What is Narcan?

Narcan is the brand name for naloxone, a medication that reverses an opioid overdose. When someone’s breathing has slowed or stopped due to an opioid overdose, Narcan can restore normal breathing within 2 to 3 minutes. Rise Above Opioids It comes as a nasal spray and requires no medical training to use.

Narcan won’t harm someone if opioids aren’t in their system — so if you’re ever unsure whether someone is overdosing, it’s always the right call to use it.
